Harry "Butch" J. Bates

Harry "Butch" J. Bates, of Harrington, formerly of Glen Burnie, Maryland, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at the Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, he was 73.
Mr. Bates worked as a body and fender man most of his life. He retired from Musselman's Body and Fender Shop in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
After his retirement, and moving to Harrington, Mr. Bates enjoyed spending time with his wife and dogs, going to the slots and participating with the Harrington and Frederica Senior Centers.
Mr. Bates will be remembered as a loving and caring husband and father.
In addition to his father, William "Kenny" K. Bates, and mother, Margaret E. Bates (nee Rohm), he was preceded in death by a son Kenneth Bates.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Gabriele A. Bates of Harrington; and his children, Katherine Stanley of Ohio, Martin Springmann of Oregon, Angela Simmons of Maryland, Andrew Springmann of Maryland; two sisters; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South Dupont Hwy, Harrington, on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 1pm.
