HARRINGTON - Grace V. Minner passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at home with her family that she loved by her side. She was one day shy of her 96th birthday She is the daughter of the late James T. and Maude R. Lyons.
Mrs. Minner was born Nov. 13, 1915 to the late Maude and James Lyons. She was a homemaker, and a very hard worker. She enjoyed canning produce from her large garden. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
In her spare time she liked to work on crossword puzzles, dominoes, and playing cards with family and friends. She will be remembered as an inquisitive person who enjoyed keeping up on current events, and remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Minner was a member of the Trinity U.M. Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John L. Minner; brothers, Clifford, Medford, Randall Lyons; and sister, Florence Hill.
She is survived by her daughters, Virginia L. Maloney of Harrington, Doris E. Calhoun of Harrington, Barbara J. Sapp and her husband Richard of Milton, and S. Louise Savage of Milford; her grandchildren, Bernie Maloney, Mark Maloney and wife Kathy, Terry Calhoun and wife Ruth, Sherry Clark and husband Jeff, Shelly Wooters and husband Ronnie, Kelly Willey and husband Steve, Jean Messick and husband Alan, Richard Sapp and Michele; great-grandchildren, Mark John and Megan Maloney, Jessica and Tara Calhoun, Clayton and Sarah Clark, Chelsea Wooter, Steven Willey, Ryan Messick, Jeremy Messick, Trey Sapp, Lori Sapp; sister, Louise Minner; sister in law, Kay Minner.
Service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in her memory to Trinity Methodist Church, 63 Commerce Street, Harrington, DE 19952 for the "Raising the Roof" fund.
