George F Manser Jr.

d. July 23, 2024

George F. Manser Jr., Felton, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2004 at his home with his loving wife by his side, he was 86.  George was born in Newark, NJ to the late, Eileen and George Manser Sr.

George served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for four years.  He worked as an insurance adjuster for Allstate for many years.

George had a fascination with airplanes his whole life.  He was one of the youngest pilots of his generation who got his pilots license at the age of 16, he was more excited to get his pilots license versus his driving license.  He thoroughly enjoyed flying which led him into the Air Force.  His love of flying continued his whole life, and one of his favorite activities was taking family up in his Cessna and looking at Christmas lights from above.  When he was not flying the plane, he enjoyed jumping out of them and skydiving.  He loved planes so much that he built model airplanes as well.   In his younger years, George like to race cars and could be found on dirt tracks with his friends or in the garage helping to work on all the cars.  He was very knowledgeable when it came to mechanics or anything mechanical.  His intelligence was off the charts, and he tinkered with inventing quite a few things and two of his inventions even got patents.  He was a great handyman, electrician, and mechanic.  He knew a lot, about a lot.  He used his knowledge to help out family and friends with whatever needed fixing.  Computers were another hobby of his and he spent countless hours on them, fixing them, etc.  As his daughters and grand daughters grew up, he constructed elaborate dollhouses, complete with working lights.   Christmas time was on if his favorite times of the year.  He always loaded up on presents for the family and made sure to find the most unique and best presents.  Yearly hunting trips to Maine was also a highlight every year.

George will be remembered as intellectual and wise.  He was everyone's go to for advice and help.  He loved helping others and using his expertise and vast knowledge.  He was great with numbers and investing and always made sure to put money aside for a rainy day.  He lived life like a chess game,  always thinking 2 or 3 steps ahead.  He was very strategic and well prepared in life.  He always made sure to carry a pen around and maybe a tool or two in his pockets.  He will be missed and cherished as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and for his big heart, boundless love, and fearlessness.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marilyn Manser; daughters, Colleen Booth, Tania Lehman; grandchildren, Kristen Booth, Brie Booth, Jordan Booth; great grandchild, Addilynn Algier; brother, Richard "Red" Manser; sisters, Mary Manser, Catherine "Sissy" Mitten.
