George "Rex" Bonnewell

George “Rex” Bonnewell, of Bridgeville, Delaware, formerly of Wilmington, went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at the Genesis Seaford Center. He was born on July 30, 1949, to Elsie M. (Bonnewell) Campbell and the late Norman T. Bonnewell, Sr.

He was born again into the family of God on September 3, 2014. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Norman T. Bonnewell, Jr. and John R. Bonnewell.

He graduated from Delaware Technical and Community College in Georgetown with an Associate's degree in Architectural Design Technology, furthering his education with numerous related courses at the University of Delaware and Drexel Institute.

He was employed by Hercules Corporation and BE&K Engineering Company for many years and was a consultant in the Wilmington area.

Mr. Bonnewell was a member of Temple #11 of the Masonic Lodge in Wilmington for over 20 years, twice serving as Master of his lodge. He was also on the Grand Staff of the Grand Lodge of Delaware.

He was a talented artist, being adept at drawing, painting, and design. In his spare time, he enjoyed painting lighthouse and water scenes, reading, and travelling.

Survivors include his son, David Rex Bonnewell of Chandler, Arizona; mother, Elsie M. Campbell, lately of Dover, Delaware; sister, Linda S.(William) Grady of Swartz Creek, Michigan; aunts Anna E. Bailey of Sanford, Virginia, and Rosa M. Hayman of Pocomoke City, Maryland, and uncle, Almer H. (Ruth) Gladden of Bulls Gap, Tennessee; one niece, three nephews, nine great-nieces, five great-nephews, and seven cousins. He will be greatly missed by all he left behind.

Visitation and the funeral will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Highway, Harrington, Delaware. Graveside Service will take place on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at 1 PM at Downing Cemetery, Oak Hall, Virginia. Mr. Bonnewell's nephew, Dr. Paul W. Grady of Maryville, Tennessee, will officiate both services.
