Gary R. Carter, Sr.

Gary Carter, Sr., 66 HARRINGTON — Gary Carter, Sr.  passed away Saturday, Mar. 25, 2017, at home surrounded by his family.  He was the son of Sadie Carter and the late Robert E. Carter.

Mr. Carter worked as an equipment operator throughout his life to include working for George & Lynch.

Mr. Carter enjoyed hunting, gardening, horseback riding, as well as spending time with family and good friends.  He was a NASCAR racing fan whose favorite TV shows were: Swamp People, The Voice, Rodeos and country music shows. Mr. Carter was a charismatic yet quiet person who always wanted to provide for his family. He was a strong willed man who tended to be a worry wart, wanting to make everything right. Mr. Carter made sure to pass down his good handyman skills to his sons. If there was anything he couldn’t do, he’d find a way to get the job done.

In addition to his father, Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Carter; and sister, Donna Carter.

Mr. Carter is survived by his loving wife, Trena Carter; sons Gary Carter, Jr. (Vanessa) and Brian Carter (Heather); brother, Larry Carter (Cindy); grandchildren, Savannah Baynard, Cameron Carter, Brenden Shulties, Jetti Hastings, Dominic Cintorino, Jaden Knowles, Joshua and Caleb Handy; nieces and nephews, Katie, Lauren, Michael, Robert and Tommy Smith.

Services will be Wednesday, Mar. 29, 2017, at   Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at the Hollywood Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will take place one hour prior.
