Frederick G. Crawford

Frederick G. Crawford of Harrington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at the Bayhealth-Sussex Hospital, he was 83.  Mr. Crawford was born in Illinois to the late, Myrtle May Hoffman and Frederick Charles Hoffman.

Mr. Crawford served his country proudly in the United States Air Force.  He worked as a former Code Enforcer for the city of Harrington.  He loved to work and took pride in everything that he did.  He was most proficient with doing electrical work, heating, and drywall jobs.

Mr. Crawford loved his family dearly and worked hard to support them.  He equally loved fishing and boating and took every opportunity he could to do both. He also enjoyed playing the guitar. He was a man of faith and read his Bible every night and shared what he learned and the Bible lessons to his children. Spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren was most important to him.

Mr. Crawford will be remembered as a jokester.  He had a joke or a funny story about everything in life.  He was very funny and well liked by all.  He was never short of words and had an answer for everything.  His humor, stories, and presence will forever be cherished and missed.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Coreena Hoffman; and a sister, Joy Ruth Clausen.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Crawford; children, Barbara Jean Lewis, Frederick Hoffman, Lyra Levins, Celeaste Crawford, Trahey Crawford, Jesus Crawford, Paula Zirbal, Paul Crawford, Fortunado Crawford, Heather Say; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Visitation for Mr. Crawford, will be on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE, between 11 AM and 12:45 PM.  A graveside service will start at 1PM at the Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
