Etta Louise Smith

Etta Louise Smith, of Farmington, passed away at Milford Center, on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at the age of 90.  She was the daughter of the late Carroll D.W. and Mildred Satterfield

Mrs. Smith was very involved and active in the Farmington community.  She was a bookkeeper for Smitty’s garage, a deli clerk, and tax collector for Farmington.  Mrs. Smith was the last charter member of the Farmington Fire Co. Ladies Auxillary, which she proudly served for many years.  She was also a former member of the Harrington Senior Center and former 4H leader.

Mrs. Smith enjoyed reading, crocheting, talking on the phone, and chatting with friends.  She was known as a mother or grandmother to many people in Farmington, and caregiver to many town cats.  She was a very good neighbor, always willing to lend a helping hand.  People loved her cooking, and they would wait until she was working to visit her at the store.  Mrs. Smith supported her husband, “Smitty” in his drag racing endeavors. Everyone that met Mrs. Smith or came in contact with her, always commented that she was one of the sweetest people around, and she will be deeply missed by her family, and the Farmington community.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin “Smitty” Smith; sons, Calvin and Richard Smith; siblings, Virginia Taylor, Phyllis Lofland, John Satterfield, “Pete” Carroll Satterfield Jr, James Satterfield, and Charles Satterfield.

She is survived by her daughters, Madonna Holt and Bonnie Smith; brothers, William “Bill” Satterfield and Robert Satterfield; 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; and the entire community of Farmington.

A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021 at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy, Harrington at 1 PM. A visitation will take place one hour prior, starting at 12 Noon. Interment will follow immediately after at St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood.
