HARRINGTON - Esther Hayman Crisp passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at her home. She was born to the late William and Anna Jester Hayman.
Mrs. Crisp was an avid gardener and enjoyed raising poultry and attending horse races. She missed her husband dearly after he passed at a young age, and spent half of her life living alone. She thoroughly enjoyed visits from her family and friends and loved to socialize and going to different places with them. She will be sadly missed.
Mrs. Crisp was a member of Prospect Church and the Harrington Senior Center.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Crisp; daughter, Irene Collins; brothers, Howard Hayman, William Hayman, and Kenneth Hayman; and sisters, Louetta Shaffer and Pauline Webb.
She is survived by sons, Wesley Fortney and wife, Karen of El Paso, Texas, Allen Fortney and wife, Lucinda, of Willow Grove; daughter, Nettie Mae Goad and husband, Noble, of Ridgely, Md.; sister, Doris Hopkins, of Felton; grandchildren, Wanda Foltz, Debbie Collins, Cindy Kaufman, Tom Collins, Dale Fortney, Teresa Fortney, Robert Allen Fortney, and Candace Fortney; great-grandchildren, Lacey Kershner, Heather Fortney, Kacie Jackson, Madelyn Fortney, Ryan Weiber, Jordan Foltz, Aaron Foltz, and Justin Kaufman; a great-great-grandchild will join the family in September.
Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Prospect United Methodist Church, 5183 Vernon Rd., Harrington with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Milford Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Prospect UMC Church, 63 Commerce St, Harrington, DE 19952.
