Frederica - Elvin H. Shehorn died Sunday, May 18, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born to the late Cecil E. and Goldie Pearl Shehorn.
Mr. Shehorn served his country proudly in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1963. In the Air Force, he was a cook for over 14 years. He worked at Kraft Foods for over 14 years as an operator.
In his free time, he enjoyed mining, gem cutting, leatherwork, and wood working. He enjoyed travelling, especially with his family, and also camping. He was a great cook and loved to bake. He used his skills that he learned in the military and he could cook up a storm. He will be remembered as very outgoing and laid back, but also a prankster. He enjoyed doing things with his family, and especially enjoyed spoiling his grandkids and great grandkids. He will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Corrine Shehorn; brother, Leonard Shehorn and sister, Deloris Shehorn.
He is survived by his sons, Richard (Charlene) Shehorn of Hartly, Lance Shehorn of Camden, Barry Shehorn of Frederica, Dale Shehorn of Frederica and Thomas Shehorn of Wilmington, Ohio; daughters, Donna (Jim) Thomas of Felton and Cheryl Tripp of Frederica, Sharon Kemp of Harrington; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held Friday, May 23, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be held One hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Sharon Hills Cemetery, Dover.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to Melvin Funeral Home, to help defray funeral expenses.
