Elizabeth P. 'Libby' Hughes, 90
GEORGETOWN — Elizabeth P. 'Libby' Hughes, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at the Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown.
She was born in Hurlock, Md. to the late William and Fannie Pitts.
Libby attended Goldey Beacon College after high school. Upon her completion of college, she worked at DuPonts before she married her husband Harry Lee. After she married, she became a housewife and raised her three boys. She enjoyed other jobs throughout her lifetime including selling encyclopedias, working in an Architects office and a nursing home. She also worked at her daughter in law’s home daycare for several years. She lived in Kirkwood Gardens for most of her adult life before she moved to Georgetown.
Libby loved to travel. She was able to visit Hawaii, Bermuda, and Florida several times. She enjoyed going out to eat, and spending time with family and friends and making people laugh. She had a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed. Libby was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Wilmington.
Libby was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee Hughes; sisters, Maia Travers and Blanche Mason. She is survive by sons and daughterin- laws, William L. Hughes (Karen) of Georgetown, Jeffrey C. Hughes (Karla) of Garnett Valley, Pa., and David R. Hughes (Barbara) of Townsend; and eight grandchildren.
Service will be held at noon on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Unity Washington Cemetery, Hurlock, MD.
