HOUSTON — Edna Mae Tibbitt, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 10, 2015, she was 101 years old. She was born in Frederica, to the late William H. and Josephine "Sallie" Dawson.
Mrs. Tibbitt was a dressmaker for the Ace Dress Factory where she retired from. She was a hard worker all of her life, not only in her occupation, but also in raising her children. She often went without in order to make sure her children were provided for, and never complained. She was always the last one to eat, to make sure all were fed first. She lived for her family, and her family was her life. She was a great cook, and everyone looked forward to her meals.
Mrs. Tibbitt will be remembered as a wonderful mom, there was truly only one like her. She truly loved her family dearly. She never said a cross word about anyone or anything, but she wasn’t afraid to tell you whether she didn’t like something or not. She enjoyed going to Dairy Queen, and she loved her hot wings. Her legacy and fond memories will always be cherished by her family, and she will be missed.
Mrs. Tibbitt attended Pilgrim Chapel of Harrington.
She is survived by son, James “Jimmy” Tibbitt of Houston; daughters, Alice Ross of Clayton, Janet Workman of Milton, Carolyn Baker of Felton, Lillian Nugent of Milford and Sandra Knotts of Harrington; 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
