Edmund E. Stephens, 79
HARRINGTON — Edmund E. Stephens, of Harrington, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial. He was 79.
Mr. Stephens served his country proudly in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, where he received a Purple Heart. Up until the war started, he played in the US Army Band. Mr. Stephens worked as a truck driver, and was a member of Teamsters Local #560.
In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, square dancing, and camping. He was also an avid wood worker helping his wife with her crafts. He loved to spend time with his family, and especially
enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Emerson E. and Florence Niper, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Brian Wiltrout.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Jane A. Stephens of Harrington; sons, Barry Stephens of Green, N.Y., and Richard Stephens of Seaford; daughter, Gayle Chuckran of Clinton, N.J.; stepdaughter, Brenda Carney of Harrington; 11 grandchildren, and five greatgrandchildren.
Memorial Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will be 1 p.m., Monday, July 18, 2011, at Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro.
