Dennis James Garcia passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2015, from his home, he was 17 years old.
Dennis was a senior at Lake Forest High School. He was also a student briefly at Polytech before returning home to Lake Forest. In school, Dennis excelled in sports with baseball, football, and especially wrestling. Wrestling was his passion and sport of choice, and he participated in numerous state tournaments.
Dennis loved little children, and his aspiration was to become an elementary school teacher. He enjoyed teaching them, showing them how to ride bikes, learning video games, etc. Dennis was very family oriented. His family didn't necessarily consist of blood. His friends were just as close to him as brothers. Dennis made sure to look out for everybody. He was a true champion of underdogs, and stood up to any bullying others. He made sure all of his friends were taken care of. If they needed a place to stay, they were always invited back to his home to stay the night. It was never unusual to wake up and see 5 or 6 or his friends asleep at his home. He was very loyal to his family and friends. Family meant the world to him, whether it was fishing with his father, hanging out with his siblings, trading shoes with his friends, this was his life.
Dennis will be remembered as headstrong and full of life. He was always making jokes and making everyone laugh. He could be mean but in a nice way. He was always the "life of the party." He stepped up and was a positive male role model for his nephew, Chaz. Together they shared a special bond and love that transcended a father and son relationship. Dennis' love of life, values, charisma, laughter, and passion for others, will forever be missed by his family and close friends.
Dennis was a junior member of the Harrington Fire Company, station #50.
