Delores H. McDonnell, 87 FREDERICA
Delores McDonnell, Frederica, Del., and formerly of Watertown, Conn. and Miami, Fla., passed from this life on Thursday, August 14, 2014. Ms. McDonnell was daughter to the late Francis and Huldah Tarket Wills.
Delores was a lifelong caregiver and her loving ways will be missed by many. She was a longtime member of the Frederica Senior Center with a special interest in crafts, sewing and Bingo. She continued to learn new things until her recent illness kept her from the Center, where she had many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Leroy Francis McDonnell, Jr; a son, Richard John McDonnell; and a son-in-law, Roy Yoder; brothers, Richard and John; and sisters Mary, Frances, Elnora, Marjorie, and Ruth.
She is survived by two loving daughters, Sandra Harris and her husband Bill, of Frederica, Del., and Sharon Yoder of Naugatuck, Conn., eight grandchildren, Robin Simpson of Naugatuck, Conn, Leah Ann Portley and her husband Sean of Madison, Conn., William Harris Jr and his wife Lisa of Gambrills, Md., Shawn Simpson of McDonough, N.Y., Richard John McDonnell Jr of Kansas City, Mo., Shawndra McDonnell Hartwig of Kansas City, Mo., Barbara McDonnell Thomas of Lincoln, Mo., and Richard Causey and his wife Kristen of Queens Creek, Ariz., Sixteen great-Grandchildren and Five Great-great-Grandchildren. Her numerous nieces and nephews and a special sister-in-law, Jean Litke of Naugatuck, will also miss her.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 6 p.m. at O’Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street, Oakville, Connecticut 06779 A reception for her Delaware friends and family will be at the Frederica Senior Center on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 10 a.m.
