Debra Lynn Rothermel

d. May 7, 2015

Debra Lynn Rothermel of Felton, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015, from the Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital, she was 56.

Debra was a stay at home mom who enjoyed rescuing dogs and selling Longaberger baskets.  She enjoyed going to the beach in the summer, and loved having family gatherings, esp. during the holidays. Debra loved doting on her children and grandchildren, who were her whole world. She was a very outgoing person who made friends easily. Debra never let on about the pain and suffering she was enduring, caring more about others than herself, which she showed that right up until the very end.  The following poem sums up the feeling that her children have:

The Courage That My Mother Had (by: Edna St. Vincent Millay)

The courage that my mother had, Went with her, and is with her still:
Rock from New England quarried; Now granite in a granite hill.

The golden brooch my mother wore, She left behind for me to wear;
I have no thing I treasure more: Yet, it is something I could spare.
Oh, if instead she’d left to me, The thing she took into the grave!
That courage like a rock, which she, has no more need of, and I have.

Debra was preceeded in death by her daughter, Lindsey Renee Rothermel; mother, Mary Evelyn Currey; paternal grandmother, Bessie Birdziak; and maternal grandmother, Evelyn Thompson.
