David W. “Bubba” Melvin, of Dover, passed away at home, on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the age of 61. He was the son of the late, Cornelius and Charlotte Melvin.
Bubba was a graduate of Dover High School, and worked for over thirty years at Scott Paper and Proctor Gamble before retiring in 2018.
Bubba was a quiet man with a heart as big as he was. He enjoyed riding his Harley, working on his bike, attending car shows, hanging out with his buddies, and texting family and friends. He was a former member of ABATE, American Bikers Aiming Toward Education, and he loved to ride. If you were unfortunate enough to be behind him while riding or if you were a target of one of his ride bys while on his old Shovelhead, you were guaranteed to lose your hearing for three days. Bubba had a quick wit and sense of humor that was always on point. His one liners were legendary, and even if they were inappropriate, that quick burst of laughter from Bubba, or that expression with his one eyebrow raised, made everyone laugh. If you were fortunate to be a friend of Bubba, you were a friend for life, and if you knew him, you loved him. Bubba loved his family and close friends very much, and always checked up on everyone. Bubba will be sadly missed and irreplaceable.
In addition to his parents, Bubba is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas E. Melvin, sister-in-law, Eleanor Melvin, niece, Angela Melvin, and nephew Bruce Williamson.
Bubba is survived by his brothers, Joseph Melvin (Donna) and Dean Melvin (Karen); sister in law, Bonnie Melvin; nieces and nephews, Micki Todd (Mike), Tammy Williamson, Gene Melvin (Jen Sowers), Crystal Johnson (Mark), Rachel Bonnewell, and Jason Melvin (Erica); companion of over 30 years, Eleanor Killen; and a large extended family and many close buddies.
A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, Inc. at 1 PM. A visitation will take place one hour prior starting at 12 Noon. The family requests that everyone wear casual attire, as Bubba would want everyone to be comfortable.
Arrangements are by the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home Inc, Harrington. Visit us at www.melvinfuneralhome.com to sign the condolence book.
