Cynthia L. Hughes, 50, formerly of Harrington, DE, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011 in Versailles, Kentucky where she resided. She was born in Harrington, DE to the late Benjamin and Emma Lee Hughes.
For most of her life, Cindy worked for the family businesses, Hi-Grade Dairy and Bennies Junction Restaurant of Harrington. She aspired to be a CPA, and recently completed her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam. Prior to moving to Kentucky, she was completing her apprenticeship at Luff & Associates, CPAs in Milford. She was a member of the State of Delaware Tax Appeal Board for many years.
She loved nature, and enjoyed growing flowers, feeding her backyard birds and working on her fish pond. She had a soft spot in her heart for animals, and lovingly cared for her many dogs and cats over the years.
She was preceded in death by a sister Jane Hughes Moore.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry C. Cooper Jr. of Versailles; stepsons, Kyle Cooper of Delaware and Adam Cooper of Versailles; brother and sister in law, Ronald and Charlyne Hughes of Harrington; nephews and niece, Steven Moore, Todd Hughes, Tracey Edwards; step granddaughter, Haley Cooper.
A Memorial Service will be Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at 12:00 PM, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private.
