Cpl. Douglas W. Booker, Ret.

Cpl. Douglas W. Booker, 75 of Milford, DE passed away at home on Sunday, January 15, 2023 surrounded by those he loved. He was the son of the late Francis and Catharine Booker.

Corporal Douglas W. Booker was a Delaware State Police Officer for 20 years. After retirement, he utilized his law enforcement background and worked with several agencies. These included, Dover Downs Security, Stevenson House Detention Center, and most recently as an investigator for the law firm Schmittinger & Rodriguez PA, with his lifelong, “ride or die” brother, Harold Brode. He was an avid outdoorsman, that loved nature, fishing, and tending to his horses, goats, chickens, and ducks on his small family farmette, and spending time with his beloved dogs. He also enjoyed judging car shows for the Shamrock Judges Association. In his spare time, Douglas could be found rooting for his favorite Philadelphia Eagles football and Phillies baseball team, or watching Nascar and cheering for now retired driver, Jeff Gordon.

Douglas’ life centered around his family. He was a good provider, hard worker, and proud of his children and grandchildren. He was loving but firm, and very genuine. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Douglas is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Jennifer Booker, children; Brett Booker (Kathy), Kristi Booker-Reisinger (Dylan Housman); Grandchildren, Seth Booker, Taylor Booker, Paige Reisinger, Chase Reisinger, Kendall Reisinger, Joey Riley, Luke Riley, Abby Riley; Great Grandchildren, Ava Baines, Karsyn Booker, Kamryn Booker, DJ Baines, Kori Booker, and Kynnedi Booker.

Graveside services will be held at Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, 6486 Bay Rd, Frederica, DE 19946, on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 1:00 PM. Arrangements are by the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home Inc, Harrington, DE.
