Cheryl J Moore

Cheryl J. Moore, 77, Felton, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at the Country Rest Home, of Greenwood due to complications of dementia.

Cheryl grew up in Woodbury, NJ, and graduated from the University of Delaware in 1968 with a degree in nursing. She had a 30-year career helping others in the state of Delaware as a public health nurse and in her nursing leadership roles at Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill and Emily P. Bissell Hospital. After her retirement, she continued to work, first as a partner in The Dance Collection clothing store and later as director of Harvest Years Senior Center.

She was a loving mother and volunteered her time with the PTA, Girl Scouts, and the Lake Forest School Board. She also helped with numerous productions at the Dance Conservatory in Dover. She will be remembered as an avid reader; 2 newspapers daily as well as countless novels. She was a warm and stoic person with a hearty laugh and a love of learning that will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Regaey Haines.

Cheryl is survived by her husband of 54 years, George Moore; daughter, Sarah Moore and her husband Spencer Orkus; grandchildren, Abigail and Oliver Orkus; and sister, Patrice Sherry.

A celebration of life service will be held on her birthday in November.
