Charlotte May Dare
Charlotte May Dare, of Felton, passed away peacefully at her daughters home in Harrington, on Wednesday, December 2, 2015. She was 82 years old. Mrs. Dare was born in Dover, DE to the late Charles and May Lindale.
Mrs. Dare was a registered nurse who worked at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital for 30 years. After leaving Bayhealth, she continued to work at Milford Manor for a number of years until her retirement. After her and her late husband retired, they enjoyed travelling all across the globe to places such as the Philippines, Turkey, Alaska, and Hawaii.
Mrs. Dare also loved to go camping and sailing. She enjoyed playing softball and was quite the exceptional hitter. Whenever she went to bat, every one would back up on the ball field. Mrs. Dare will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her family. She saw to it that all of her children graduated from high school. She believed in a solid education and wanted only the best for her family. She will be sadly missed.
Mrs. Dare is preceded in death by her husband, James H. Dare Jr.; son, Timothy Dare; brother, Gordon Lindale; and grandsons, Dustin Dare and Nicholas Dare.
She is survived by her sons, James C. Dare of Frederica, Patrick K. Dare of Dover, Michael K. Dare of Virginia Beach, VA, Francis M. Dare of North Carolina, Sean J. Dare of Harrington, Kelly P. Dare of Felton, Brian T. Dare of Mineral, VA; daughters, Theresa L. Walters of Harrington, Sharon E. Marple of Felton; sisters, Mary Ann Hall of New Castle, DE, June E. Clark of Felton; 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, at 11 AM. A visitation for family and friends will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro, where she will be laid to rest with her late husband.
