Charles R. Reed Jr.

d. November 19, 2024

Charles R. Reed, Jr., Felton, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at his home, he was 68. He was the son of Mildred Reed and the late, Charles “Buddy” Reed, Sr.

Charles was a contractor, owner of Charles Reed & Son Builders. He built many houses over the years; a favorite was his home in Chincoteague where he enjoyed spending time with friends and family.  Charles retired from the first Dover Lowes in 1986, and after the new Lowes was built, he used the lumber and materials from the old store to build his own home.  In his younger years, he was involved with miniature harness racing and a coach for the Felton Little League.

Charles enjoyed being outside, whether it was hunting, crabbing, fishing, or boating. He truly loved being on his farm and having his children and grandchildren living on the farm as well.  He was always driving his Gator around on the farm checking on everyone and making sure his kids and grandkids were well or needed anything.  He was a proud Pop-Pop and loved to watch his grandchildren.  He could fix anything, and was a true craftsman.  He loved wood working, and was a walking calculator.  No project was too big or too small for him and after finishing a tough project, you better believe he would step back, check out his handiwork and exclaim, "I couldn't have done it better myself".  He always had an open door policy on the farm and was truly everyone's friend.  If you needed to borrow a tool or anything he had, he never said no, and always shared his knowledge and expertise on the subject.

Charles also liked to watch NASCAR and he especially loved to park campers on his grandparents land for the Dover Races.   For a time, Harleys were his passion and he enjoyed riding, and he also enjoyed riding horses and riding the trails.  Lately, a new phase he was into was cows, something his grandchildren were into.  Charles was overall a great guy, a great father, pop-pop, son, uncle, and friend.  He always cared for others above himself and made sure to tell his children how proud he was of them every chance he got, and he valued life itself.  He recently commented that he had indeed reached his life's goal, and that was to see everyone happy.  His legacy will live on through his family and he will be sorely missed.

Charles graduated from Lake Forest High School in 1974. He was a member of the Harrington Moose and the American Legion.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his sister, Connie Reed.

Charles is survived by his children, Brenda Oakley (Leland) and Charles Reed III (Jamie); grandchildren, Kenzel Oakley, Molly Oakley, Charles Reed IV, and Lily Reed; brother, Curtis Reed Sr.; sister, Cynthia Evans (Parry); girlfriend of 18 years, Ronda Everett and her son, Chad Everett (Megan) and her grandchildren, Cassious Rodriquez, Jayven Robles, and Ashley Everett (Keyatak); and the mother of Brenda and Charles III and life long friend, Brenda Hudson (Michael); and other extended family and friends who will miss him.
