FREDERICA — Charles E. MacFarland, of Frederica, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at his home.  He was 63.

Charlie served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was the owner and operator of the Blue Hen Delivery Company, moving furniture for over 30 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed drag racing and antique car shows. He loved to drive antique cars in local parades, and even participated in the Harrington Christmas Parade a couple months ago.

Charlie had an upbeat and friendly personality. He loved to talk and never knew a stranger. If the topic of cars came up, he could talk for hours on the subject. He was extremely knowledgeable about old cars and loved to share his wisdom. His great sense of humor and happy go lucky attitude will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Charlie was a member of Cheswold Connections Drag Racing, Felton Alumni Association, and a junior member of the Frederica Fire Company when he was a teenager.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Freda M. and James M. MacFarland Sr.

He is survived by his brother, James M. MacFarland Jr. and his companion Michelle Smith; sisters, Bonnie C. Keller and her husband Larry, Donna L. Humphrey and her husband Gale; very special friend, Ruthie Wothers; and special friend who worked with Charlie, Chris Robinson.

Memorial Services will be 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718, or call 1-800-227-2345.
