Charles “Charlie” A. Lesser, 83, of Harrington, peacefully passed away on May 4, 2024 at Brookdale Memory Care, Dover. He is the son of the late Alfred and Edna Lesser. Charlie obtained his masters degree and started his career at DNREC, Dept. of Natural Resources as a biologist and after 37.5 years, retired as Administrator of Fisheries. Throughout his career, he often raised various wild animals and birds to include turkey, geese, and ducks.
Charlie loved to be outdoors, often hunting, fishing, crabbing, or caring for animals. He loved all matters of hunting whether it was quail, dove, duck, or deer. He raised and trained Labrador Retrievers for field trials and field tests as well as bird hunting, and in later years he became a field judge. Charlie’s hobbies included watercolor painting, journaling his hunting adventures, and taxidermy. Grumpy but goofy, he had a soft heart, cared about others, and loved his family. Charlie’s wild animal stories will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Charlie is preceded in death by his brothers, Frederick and Cyrus Lesser.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Linda Lesser; daughter, Debbie Addonizio; granddaughters, Kelsey Barnette (John) and Stacie Elliott (Jordan); and great grandchildren, Stevie and Jameson Elliott; brother-in-law, Wayne Douglas, and extended family Diane, Chuck, Chris and family, as well as his dog, Pippa.
