Carolyn Sarah Breeding Cashwell, 66
GREENWOOD — Carolyn Sarah Breeding Cashwell met an untimely death on Sunday, April 22, 2012, at her home near Greenwood, Del. Carolyn was born Feb. 16, 1946, in the Riverside Maternity Hospital, Greensboro, Md., daughter of the late George H. and Sarah Gardner Breeding of Hickman, Md.
Carolyn graduated from North Caroline High School in June 1964. On April 2, 1966, she married Harvey Cashwell of Lower Delaware. She and Harvey had lived on the farm in the Hickman area throughout their married life. Carolyn worked for and retired from Playtex of Dover. Harvey worked as a meat manager for Safeway from whence he retired. Years ago, they also owned and operated the Corner Country Store in Bridgeville prior to moving out on the farm.
Since their retirement, they worked together growing their famous Doctor Martin lima beans. Together they had served many customers with both the lima bean plants and the ready to cook limas. During the winter, when the lima beans were not in season, they processed deer for the local
hunters. Carolyn was a hard worker who had befriended many persons who had come to her seeking help. She was a cat person who loved her cat deeply.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother in law, Bobby Corkell; and nephews Merle Lee and Timothy.
She is survived by her siblings and their spouses, G. Ray and Kate B. Breeding of Greensboro, Md., M. Elizabeth Breeding Corkell of Preston, Md., A. Pauline and Merle Lister of Denton, Md., J. Marvin and Marianna Breeding of Denton, Md., Rosemary Breeding and Hartman Lord of Salisbury, Md., Richard H. and Laura Breeding of Denton, Md., David A. and Donna Breeding of Denton, Md. Carolyn loved and was loved by all of her nieces and nephews, Faye, Alan, Dawn, Glen, Sara, Robert, Phillip, Christopher, Mary Beth, Patrick, Deborah, Paul, Sharon, Scotty, Daniel, John, Anthony, Crystal, Eric, Kimberly, Megan, Josh and Cole. She is also survived by many grand nephews and grand nieces and a host of other friends and co-workers.
Services will be held Monday, May 7, 2012, at 12:00 noon at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro.
