HARRINGTON — Carmine A. Gallo Jr., passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family that he loved. He is the son of the late Carmine and Teresa Gallo Sr.

Mr. Gallo served his country proudly in the U.S. Army National Guard. Mr. Gallo owned 1st State Petroleum Services, working in sales and installation of service stations. In his spare time, he enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, gardening, and camping, especially at Roaring Point Campground. He was an avid bowler for over 25 years on a men’s league, then bowled on a mixed league for several years. He also ran a stock car with Wally Ryan for several years. Mr. Gallo loved doing things for other people.

He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He considered it his job to spoil his grandchildren. Mr. Gallo was a former member of the Andrewsville Ruritan and the Harrington Moose Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Emil Gallo.

He is survived by a wife of 53 years, Helen M. Gallo of Harrington; sons, Frank C. Gallo of Bel Air, Md. and fiancée Mary, and Stacy A. Gallo of Harrington and wife Cathy; daughter, Debora A. Beetschen of Harrington and husband Shawn; brothers, Anthony Gallo of Milford; grandchildren, Brandon Gallo, Kristopher Greene, Shawn Eric and Brandi Beetschen.

Services will be Friday, May 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Harrington. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
