Beulah Mae Simpson passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Friday, May 24, 2024. Born on December 9, 1929, in Felton, Delaware, she was the daughter of Willard Thomson and Gertrude Melvin, but was lovingly raised by Myrtle and Charlie Warren. Beulah Mae attended Felton schools through the ninth grade.
In 1946, Beulah Mae met and married the love of her life, Paul Lewis Simpson. They enjoyed 73 wonderful years together until Paul's passing in 2020. Beulah Mae was primarily a devoted homemaker, though she also worked as a waitress at the Wonder Bar and later as a seamstress at the Dress Factory. Her life's legacy is one of unwavering love and devotion to her family: her late son Dennis, who predeceased her in 2023, (Suellen Wilkins), Gary E. Simpson (Jean), Gail L. Brown (Aubrey), Sherri L. Stubbs (Barney) and Darrin R. Simpson (Laura).
Beulah Mae's heart was filled with pride for her grandchildren: the late "Little" Gary Simpson, predeceased in 2021, (Amy), Paula Bishop (Kevin), Jon Simpson (Anna), Megan Chaffinch, Abby Stubbs (Brent), Andrew Brown, "Little" Jimmy Messick (Kacie), Jenna Stubbs, Byron "LB" Stubbs (Kelli), Ethan Simpson (Lauren), Logan Simpson (Heather), and Jordan Simpson (Kayla Brittingham). She was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In 1976, Beulah Mae dedicated her life to the Lord and became a faithful member of Calvary Wesleyan Church in Harrington. She was a devout attendee, never missing a Sunday service until her health prevented her from attending. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she found great joy in prayer and reading the Bible. She devoted countless hours to praying for her loved ones and the weekly prayer list from her church.
Beulah Mae delighted in traveling to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, with Paul and their friends. She was an exceptional seamstress, crafting clothing for her children and grandchildren. She also loved cooking and canning fresh vegetables from the family garden. Beulah Mae and Paul never missed their grandchildren's sporting events. A familiar and beloved patron, she enjoyed Italian subs at her favorite local restaurants, Betsy Ross and Rudy's Diner.
In her final days, Beulah Mae was blessed to be in the home she shared with Paul for decades, surrounded by extraordinary caregivers: Gayle Melvin, Marsee Sharp, and her niece Sylvia Lander.
Beulah Mae lived a life of service, love, and generosity. Though she will be missed immensely, her family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with Jesus and her loved ones who preceded her.
