Betty Ann Havelow

Betty Ann Havelow, Felton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 7, 2024, she was 87.  She was born in Harrington, DE, daughter of the late, James A. Havelow and A. Elizabeth Frampton Havelow.  She was a lifelong resident of Felton and graduated from Felton High School in 1955.

Ms. Havelow began her working career at the Delaware State News.  She then worked for the State of Delaware and was the Director of Corporations Department, after which she was then employed by the Prentice-Hall Corporation System for 26 years, becoming Assistant Vice President and branch manager.  After her retirement, she was a receptionist at the Delaware State Senate for a few years.

Ms. Havelow enjoyed music and played piano from an early age.  She was also active and served as secretary of the Community Democrat Club for many years, and was also active in the Harrington and Frederica Senior Centers.

She is preceded in death by her father and stepmother, James W. and Grace Havelow; mother and stepfather, A. Elizabeth and Charles Irons; brother and sister in law, Robert V. and Emily A. Havelow; nephew Ronald E. Havelow Sr.

She is survived by her nephews, Richard (Joann) Havelow, Robin (Joanna) Havelow, Randall (April) Havelow; nieces, Kathy (Jack) Conaway, Lisa (Toby) Havelow, Linda (Pat) Miller; step- brother, Charlie Irons; step-sister, Judy Walls.

A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, November 13, at 6 PM, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE, with a visitation from 4 to 6 PM.  Interment will be held at Hopkins Cemetery at a later date.
