HARRINGTON — Betty J. Carmine passed away at Seasons Hospice in Newark, on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. She was born in Lewes to the late Linwood T. and Betty Jane Passwater, Sr.
Betty was a homemaker. She loved to crotchet and every baby in the family received a blanket. She was an avid Betty Boop and Harry Potter fan. She loved to read and bake cakes, which were to die for. She loved going on Facebook and checking on her friends and family. She also enjoyed talking and texting on her cell phone.
Betty enjoyed sports, and loved the Ravens, the Redskins, trucks, trains, and anything red. In her younger days, she traveled all over the country with her husband and his truck. Betty was quite the weather fan. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved to spoil them rotten. She thoroughly enjoyed life and her dogs. Her zestful personality will forever be missed.
Betty is predeceased by her husband, William Carmine; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Thomas; and brothers, Linwood and Clarence Passwater. She is survived by a son, Jerry D. (Michelle) Carmine of Newburgh, NY; daughters, Jean (Robert Maloney) Gooder of Harrington, Lisa M. Davis of Georgetown; brothers, Thomas (Geri) Passwater of New Castle, Robert (Susan) Passwater of New Castle, Larry Passwater of Tempe, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Laura Passwater of Millsboro; six grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Services for family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2015, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy, Harrington, at 4 PM. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.
