Betty R. Brown

d. July 28, 2013

Betty R. Brown, of Harrington, went Home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 28, 2013, from  Bayhealth-Kent General, she was 72.  She was born to the late Charlie and Violet Skeria.

Mrs. Brown worked for the Federal Government in Washington, DC prior to getting married.  After she married her husband Elwood, she became a homemaker.

Mrs. Brown was an avid coffee drinker.  She enjoyed her coffee so much that if she went to a restaurant and thought the coffee tasted awful she would send it back and ask for a fresh pot to be brewed.  She enjoyed playing golf, and the last time she played, she got a hole in one.

First and foremost, Mrs. Brown was a child of God.  She studied her Bible regularly and was involved extensively in her church, most often times behind the scenes.  She participated in various Bible and prayer groups, but her greatest calling was outreach ministry.  She taped the sermons every Sunday in church, and took that tape home and made cassette copies on a special duplication machine she owned.  Her and Elwood would then give these copies out to the people that could not attend church.

Mrs. Brown loved her family immensely.  Her sons were her pride and joy and she cherished her grandchildren and loved spending time with them.  Even though she may have been somewhat stubborn and easily spoke her mind, she was compassionate and always thinking of others above herself.  She will be sadly missed.

Mrs. Brown belonged to the Asbury United Methodist Church and attended Calvary Wesleyan Church with her husband Elwood.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Brown; son, Elwood R. Brown; and brother,  Jerry Skeria.

She is survived by her sons, Kyle A. Brown of Milford, Jason T. Brown of Harrington; and 5 grandchildren.

Graveside Service will be Friday, August 2, 2013, at 1 PM, at the Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Missions Fund at Cambridge Wesleyan Church, 1103 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613.
