Beatrice A. Hurd, of Milford, DE, went Home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 18, 2015, from the Milford Center, she was 84. Bea was born in Barclay, MD to the late William and Mae Thompson.
Miss Bea worked for Playtex for over 15 years until she became a stay at home mom, raising her 8 children. She was a member of the Milford Nazarene Church where she loved to volunteer her time and talents. Church was always a priority in her household and she made sure pass along her values and beliefs to her children.
In her spare time, Miss Bea enjoyed shopping and she loved to read, especially spiritual books. She also loved music, anything dealing with John Wayne, and she loved to travel when she could. The Milford Senior Center was a favorite place for her to visit and she enjoyed participating in their activities. She also looked forward to spending time with her family, especially doing social gatherings like birthday parties, Christmas, and Thanksgiving. She will be remembered as outgoing, caring, and generous, she would give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it. Her kind smile and caring nature will forever be missed.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia DeMarcus; brother, Samuel Thompson; a sister, Eleanor Wise-McDonald; and Charles Hurd, whom she was married to from 1949 to 1968.
Survivors include her children, Charles David Hurd of Nevada, Mark X. (Donna) Hurd of Seaford, Adam W. Hurd of Milford, Beverly Sue (Willis) Burris of Milford, Rory D. (Mary) Hurd of Newark, Daniel W. (Jennifer) Hurd of Milford, April L. Hurd of Camden; sister, Lula Satterfield of Sudlersville, MD; 13 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
Celebration of her Life will take place on Friday, May 22, 2015, at the Milford Church of the Nazarene at 1 PM with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in the adjoining Milford Community Cemetery.
