MILFORD - Anthony Gallo, Sr. passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012 at his home in Milford. Born February 18, 1927 to the late Teresa C. and Carmine Gallo, Sr.

Mr. Gallo was a World War II Veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He worked as an auto mechanic for Taylor Motors and was employed by Taylor Hardware for 10 years. He was self employed for over 25 years owning Gallo Electric and Construction. He also was an employee of Kent County Levy Court as Assessor in the Board of Assessment Department. However, his favorite job and hobby was working on his farm, near Harrington.

Mr. Gallo was a member of the Harrington Lions Club for over 50 years. He was a longtime devoted, faithful member of Prospect United Methodist Church, Vernon, Del., serving in many capacities as a Certified Lay Leader, Board of Trustees, Sunday School Teacher and Choir. He was a member of the American Legion Post 7, Harrington Senior Center, an Associate member of the Harrington Fire Co, and a past member of the Farmington Fire Co, Andrewville Ruritan Club and Harrington Moose Lodge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest, Jesse, Emil and Carmine Gallo Jr.; sisters, Ida Luongo, Mildred Vockel and Rose Gallo.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edna Mae T. Gallo; son, Anthony "Gene" Gallo of Harrington; daughter, Teresa (Terry) G. Stokes; six grandchildren, Jason, Jonathon and Julie Gallo and Lisa S. Witt, Joseph R. Stokes IV and Mary S. Neeman; six great-grandchildren; and a very close brother-in-law, M. Charles Taylor Jr.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Prospect United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 342, Harrington, DE 19952 or Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St., Milford, DE 19963. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Melvin Funeral Home where friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery.
