Pete joined the United States Air Force in 1953.  He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant in 1982 after a distinguished career, living and working in many states as well as England and Thailand.  He met his wife, Elizabeth (known as Chris), while serving in England and they married in 1957.  They remained together until her death in 2021 (63 years).  They had two sons, Phillip and Jan.  The family was active in many areas, including bowling, scouting, and others.

Pete remained active until the end, and was very involved with his church and with events around the Manor House where he primarily helped with the mail delivery and was well known and loved by both residents and staff.  He and Chris volunteered with the Friends of the Library when they lived in Milford.
