Albert Thomas “Boots” Mason, of Harrington, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2013, from the  Zephryhills Hospital, Florida, he was  86.  Mr. Mason was born to the late Albert and Aleta Mason.

Mr. Mason was born in Mt. Vernon, MD, along the Wicomico River, where he spent much of his early life boating and fishing. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Little Rock on its maiden voyage, as an electrician first class. After his discharge and his graduation from business college in Baltimore, he went to work for Delmarva Power in the business office, where he met his future wife. He worked with Delmarva Power for 37 years, as a lineman, a foreman, and finally as a supervisor of line construction. He retired in 1986.

Boots was a talented athlete. He was a baseball player in his younger years and was inducted into the Eastern Shore Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989. He was an avid tennis player. He and his brother Earl were a fearsome duo while they were in Florida together. He also enjoyed traveling with Frances in their Airstream trailer, and they spent winters in the Dade City, Florida, area at Travelers Rest Resort.

Mr. Mason was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church of Harrington, the Masonic Lodge #106 in Princess Anne, and was Past President of the Delmarva Unit WBCCI (club of Airstream RV Owners).

He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl S. Mason.

He is survived by his loving wife, Frances Perdue Mason of Harrington, DE; daughters, Aleta Mason Thompson of Rehoboth Beach, DE, Joan Mason Sacks of Atglen, PA, Mary Jean Blades of Felton, DE (Lester Blades, husband); grandchildren, Alison Sacks, Chelsea Sacks, Thomas Blades, Andrew Blades; sister, Cora Mason Widdowson of Princess Anne, MD and family; and sister-in law, Juanita Mason and family.

Services will be Saturday, March 30, 2013, with a Delaware Visitation between 10 AM and 11 AM, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Highway, Harrington, DE.

A Maryland Visitation will take place between 3PM and 4PM at the Hinman Funeral Home, 11673 Somerset Avenue, Princess Anne, MD.  Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery, Mount Vernon, MD.
