Alan (Al) D. Thorley, age 63
Alan D. Thorley of Dover, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at home with his beloved family at his bedside. He lost his hard fought battle against Extrapulmonary Small Cell Cancer. Al was 63.
Al was the first born of his late parents, David and Gloria Thorley on Oct. 30, 1949 in Nashua, NH.
Al grew up in Stoneham, MA. He served his country proudly in the United State Air Force for 11 years. He just recently retired on May 1st, from the Delaware Department of Corrections as a Probation and Parole officer where he worked as a street unit officer. He loved his job immensely and was part of the close brotherhood of fellow officers.
In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and spending time with his family and close friends. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Teresa “Terry” Thorley of Dover; sons, Alan Truk (Gina) Thorley of Texas, Josh (Brandy) Thorley of California; brothers, Doug (Beth) Thorley of California, Stephen (Gayle) Thorley of New York, Mark (Dianne) Thorley of Texas, Dave (Tresa) Thorley of California; sisters, Susan (Wayne) Hess of New Hampshire, Diana (John) Farley of Massachusetts; grandchildren, Kyle and McKayla of Texas and Kjerston, Austin, and Angelina of California; and numerous other relatives and close friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 11am, at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #3, Kitts Hummock Road, Dover, DE.
