Ronald L.Walters, of Felton, passed away March 08, 2019, at the age of 71. He is the son of the late Thomas (Aliena) Walters and Margaret (Jim) Oldham.
Ronnie was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the US Marines for four years prior to becoming a member of the United States Trotting Association.
Ronnie had two major loves in his life, his family and harness racing. He spent most of his adult life in harness racing as a trainer, owner and driver. Ronnie always supported his kids and especially grandchildren in all of their performances and activities. He was a sports fan who enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. Ronnie was a hardworking man who loved being outside grilling, cutting grass, planting flowers, and growing cucumbers and tomatoes. He was known to light up a room with his sense of humor which often included teasing others.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie is preceded in death by his brothers: Wayne Walters, Lenny Jackson, and Jeff Oldham and sister, Susan Hyatt; brother in law Ray Walls.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Shirley Walters of Felton; sons: Kevin Walters and Kyle Walters (Teresa Gosser); daughter, Kelly (Eddie) Moore and grandchildren: R.J. Oldham and Hayley Walters; step-brothers: James P. Oldham, Stephen (Kathy) Oldham, Stephen (Kathy) Oldham, Scott (Debbie) Oldham, and Norman (Rosalee) Jackson; sisters in law: Barbara Walters and Beverley Walls-Trauernicht (Jeff); and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will take place at the home of his daughter, Kelly and Eddie Moore on Saturday, March 16th at 1 pm. The family requests causal clothes in his racing colors of blue and gold.
