Susan J. W. Clark

Susan J. W. Clark, Milford, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at the Wilmington Hospital, she was 71.  She was born in Milford, DE to the late, Carroll Welch and Irene Osbourne.

Mrs. Clark was a homemaker.  Together with her late husband, John, they owned and operated a ceramic shop named, The Mud House.  They spent many years running the shop and teaching ceramic classes all over including the Harrington Senior Center. 

Mrs. Clark was a graduate of Lake Forest High School, the first class to graduate under the Lake Forest name.  Fresh out of high school, she worked at the DMV.  She gave that up when she had her children.  After her kids got older, she worked part time at Ron's IGA in Harrington as the deli manager.  In her younger years, she did enjoy bowling.  One of her favorite things in the world was decorating for Christmas.  She looked forward to the holiday and meticulously decorated her home to include her number one rule, 100 lights on each branch of the Christmas tree.  The Hallmark channel was always on in her house, and she enjoyed watching her favorite movies on there while enjoying her Peanut M&M's.  Traveling with her husband was another favorite pastime as they enjoyed visiting lighthouses up and down the coast, while searching for ceramic molds to add to their shop.  Family was very important to her, and after she raised her children, she loved to take care of her grandchildren and being a part of their lives.  She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, and late husband, John Clark Sr., she is preceded in death by her brother in laws, Raymond Poore Sr. and Jake Carney Sr.

She is survived by her son, Johnny Clark; daughter, Crystal Newcomb (Brad Johnson); siblings, Carolyn Poore, Becky (John) Lofland, Renee Carney, Kathy (George) Drummond, Robbie Osbourne; grandchildren, Gavin (Katelyn) Sr, and Kyle (Zoe); great grandchildren, Karleigh and Gavin Jr.

Services for Mrs. Clark will be on Monday, May 8, 2023, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE, at  11 AM.  A public visitation will be held starting at 10 AM.  Interment will be at the Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
