Robert A. Holloway, 92 of Harrington, peacefully passed away on Tuesday Feb. 22, 2023 at Genesis-Lofland Park Nursing Home. He is the son of the late Woodrow and Jeanette Holloway.
Mr. Holloway retired as a district sales manager for The News Journal in 1992 after 30 years. He previously worked for DP&L, Kirby & Holloway, and Bond Bread. Mr. Holloway loved to talk to people and was a member and/or officer of several organizations: Chairman of Kent County Personnel Commission, Director of Delaware State Fair since 1976, President of Harrington School Board, Lake Forest School Board, VoTech School Board, Charter Member Eastern Shore Fox Hunters Assoc., Burrsville Ruritan Club, Director of Parking for Dover Downs NASCAR Races, Member of Harrington Fire Company and Maryland Retrievers Club. Mr. Holloway retired from The Delaware State Fair in 2019 after 42 years of service. He lived for the fair and enjoyed his long-time relationships with the vendors and locals who came to work there every year. He loved sharing the fair experience with the grandchildren. He also attended Union UMC and Prospect UMC.
Mr. Holloway was an outgoing man, who never met a stranger. He enjoyed hunting, raising and training Labrador Retrievers and Beagles, as well as traveling and camping with his wife, Irene.
Mr. Holloway is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, M. Irene Holloway; children, Dale W. Holloway, Sandra Jo Holloway, and Susan Lingenfelder; grandchildren, Amy Holloway, Carrie Custis, Peyton Holloway, Justin Webb, and Chad Lingenfelder; great grandchildren, Brianna Jackson, Jadyn Griffith, Mariah Custis, Craig Custis, Jameson Brady, Talon Webb, and Jackson Lingenfelder; great great grandchildren, Blakelyn, Brinlee, and Blair Jackson and Mila Custis; and a sister, Janice Welch.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, Feb. 27, 2023 at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 15522 S. DuPont Hwy Harrington DE at 1 PM. A viewing will take place one hour prior, starting at noon. Burial will be private.
