Robert T. "Baby Bear" Blackburn Jr., passed away early on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family, he was 58. Robert was born in Wilmington, DE to the late, Robert T. Sr. and Shirley Ann Blackburn.
Robert worked many jobs over the years, and most recently as a transporter for Lewes Ford. Robert was a proud Native American Cherokee who was very much into his ancestral history. He would travel all over sharing his rich history and participated in many Native American dances, drumming, and singing events. He was known as "Baby Bear", and quite fond to represent his heritage.
Robert has been an active volunteer fire fighter since the age of 15. He is currently a member of the Frederica Fire Company, and a life member of South Bowers Fire Co. He enjoyed being part of both fire companies.
In his spare time, he loved to ride his motorcycle, and spend time with family, especially his grandchildren. Robert was well known throughout for his upbeat personality who was always happy and willing to help others. He was an all around good guy who will be sorely missed by all.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Robin Blackburn; children, Brandon (Alicia) Blackburn, Kimberlie Blackburn, Brian Tracey, Matthew Tracey, Joseph (Ashley) Tracey; sister, Shirley Blackburn; 10 grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Robert will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at 5:30pm, with a visitation for family and friends starting at 4 PM, all at the South Bowers Fire Department, 57 Scotts Corner Rd, Milford, DE 19963. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations are strongly encouraged to the AI DuPont Hospital for Children.
