Philip Albanese Obituary

Philip J. Albanese, of Harrington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, on Saturday, January 1, 2022, he was 80.  Mr. Albanese was born in Newark, New Jersey to the late Philip and Dora Albanese.

Mr. Albanese was self-employed, and together with his wife, owned and operated Lite Green Company, a family run grocery business.  Mr. Albanese graduated from Bordentown Military Institute in Bordentown, New Jersey, and spent two years at LaSalle College studying business. Growing up in the trucking business he was adept at travel and logistics which lead to his service in the National Guard. Mr. Albanese worked hard and kept busy with hobbies such as stamp collecting, military memorabilia, and bird watching.  He spent much of his time outdoors planting and maintaining a garden to attract bees, butterflies, birds, and local wildlife.

Mr. Albanese was an old fashioned kind of guy who preferred the simpler things in life, such as just spending time with his family. Many hours were spent fishing, metal detecting, and teaching his children the history of wherever they happened to be. He was known for his "effervescent" quality to life, full of charisma, charm and fun. An all around risk taker, there wasn't much he did not try, or encourage his children to try.

He is survived by his loving wife; Kimberly Albanese; his children; Rosemarie Albanese, Anthony Albanese, Bridget Bitto-Postlewaite, Nathaniel Bitto, Samantha Albanese-Gomez, Andrew Albanese, Kimberly Albanese-Taylor, Jacqueline Albanese, Matthew Albanese, and his 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Mr. Albanese will be on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy, Harrington, at 11 am.  A visitation for family and friends will start at 10AM.
