Norma J. Lankford, Harrington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at home surrounded by her family that loved her, she was 71. She was born in Salisbury, MD to the late, William Paul Lewis and Laura Mae Hartly.
Mrs. Lankford worked as a store manager for several gas stations in the area, Happy Gas and Royal Farms to name a couple.
When she was not busy at work, she did enjoy camping, and looked forward to visiting all the local yard sales on the weekends. She loved her family very much, and loved spending time with her grandkids. Mrs. Lankford had a great sense of humor and was mostly laid back, although could be grumpy at times. She was fun to be around, kind, and welcoming to anyone and everybody. She believed in second chances, and would give anyone 50 chances if that is what it took. She was a true caretaker at heart. She loved being needed, even if she stretched herself too thin to be there for everyone, but she managed to do it. Right up until the very end she worried herself immensely about making sure her grandchildren would have dinner, she had a genuine servant's heart. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Parsons; sister, Lillian Buckler; and grandchildren, Justin Tyler and Araya Sunshine.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Lankford; daughter, Jennifer Buckley (Michael); son, Tony Farrell (Amy); stepchildren, Paula Roberts, Michael Cover; siblings, Shirley Geyer (Russell), Benny Lewis (Mona), Larry Lewis Sr. (Pam), Danny Lewis (Lila); several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces nephews, and other extended family.
A Memorial Service for Mrs. Lankford will be on Friday, June 30, 2023, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE, at 1 PM. A public visitation will start at 12 noon.
