Nancy F McManemon

June 22, 2023

Obituary

Nancy F. McManemon, Harrington, peacefully passed on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at home, at the age of 98. She was the daughter of the late Eralsey and Gertrude Ferguson.

Nancy led a long and fulfilled life. She had the opportunity to travel around the world with her family as a young girl. Nancy was a nature lover, taking many trips across the country and through the great outdoors, and had the privilege of helping map trails for Canada’s Mounted Patrol. She was a teacher in Hawaii and New England, a horse race official at numerous tracks, and owned horses for 80 years. Nancy was a member of the US Trotting Association, Arbor Day Foundation, and Harrington Senior Center where she enjoyed playing bridge every Tuesday.

Nancy was a strong, independent lady with a sharp wit and dry New England humor. She enjoyed gardening and watching horse races. Nancy had a creative side, making clothespin
ornaments, braiding rugs, and knitting gifts for family and orphaned American Indians each year. She authored several children’s books and an autobiography. Nancy had a competitive edge and enjoyed beating friends and family at any game regardless of their age.

In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her husbands, Gale Chick, John Twigg, and Bill McManemon; daughter in law, Linda Chick, and her sister, Elizabeth Eaton.

Nancy is survived by her children, Frank E Chick and Mercie Chick (Yvonne Gibson); grandchildren and their spouses, James Fleming, Robert and Robin Fleming, Rebecca Fleming,
Scott and Stephanie Fleming, Frank Jr. and Kimberly Chick, Katherine Chick, and Samuel Chick; fifteen great grandchildren, Erin Tucker, Jessica Cortellino, Rachel Silkworth, Bret
Fleming, Bethany Gray, Alexandra Fleming, Lauren Fleming, Dean Fleming, Seth Fleming, Elle Chick, Joseph Kline III, Anna Chick, Luke Kline, Frank Chick III, and Marion Jane Kline; and ten great great-grandchildren; niece, Deborah Peck, her daughter Sarah Peck; niece, Sunny Eaton Steadman, her son David Steadman.
