Mary Ellingsworth

Mary M. Ellingsworth, 68 left this earth for her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.  She was the daughter of the late Mary E. Summers and Edward E. Ellingsworth.

 Mary worked various positions through her life, but her most recent job was as a medical transcriptionist for Child, Inc. She was involved in mobile home sales for K4Management, and sold vehicles and life insurance at one point. She was a creative up-cycler who enjoyed making many things, including flowers out of 2-liter bottles. She was also fond of sewing; making matching clothes for her children when they were young; gardening; and baking. She expressed her love with gift giving to her family, and cherished spending time with them especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 Mary was very caring, yet a blunt “tell it like it is” type of person, with a great sense of humor. She could have passionate conversations about politics, but the thing she was most passionate about was making sure her family had a relationship with God. Her own relationship with God was very important to her and she was confirmed in the Church of the Holy Cross, Dover, DE.

 In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her daughter, Kelly Rinaldi; grandchildren, Jacob Rinaldi, Kyle Crow, Jessup Crow, and Kaylee Crow; brother, Theodore Ellingsworth; and sister, Wendy Sue Davis, Bertha Doucette.

 She is survived by her son, Kevin Blackburn (Brandie); daughter, Kolene Shahan (Bob Nechay); grandchildren, Jaydin Crow, Zackary Blackburn, Ashley Chee, Christian McClements, Mia Mattucci, Katelyn Blackhall, Dillon Blackhall; great grandchildren, Bennett Chee, Kaylee Chee, and Owen Piasecki; and siblings, Edward Ellingsworth, Judith Wich, Teresa Webb, Donna Riggins, Dorothy McCann; and many extended family members. 

 A service Celebrating the life of Mary will be held at 12:00pm (noon) on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy. Harrington, DE 19952.  Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior beginning at 11:00 AM.
