Mark Langford Obituary

Mark L. Langford of Farmington, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at the Bayhealth-Sussex Campus, he was 61.

Mark's dedication to the community was evident by his role as a fire fighter and EMT.  His life and passion was being a fire fighter, and he loved it more then anything.  He enjoyed helping others and being of service.  His pride and joy however, was being a father and loved his daughter Katie more then anything.  In his spare time, he enjoyed watching sports, especially football, and he enjoyed collecting fire fighter memorabilia. 

Mark's fire service at the Farmington Fire Co., Station 47, included many roles.  He was Past Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, Asst Chief, Captain, Lieutenant, Chief Engineer, President (2006), Director, served on various committees (Apparatus Committee (47-3, 47-4, 47-5, Rescue 47), and was a Lifetime Member.  He joined the Department in 1975 at 16 years of age and was an active member up until his passing.  Mark was also an Honorary Life Member of the Harrington Fire Co., Station 50.  Mark served in many capacities over his many years of service to the company, including EMS Captain, Chief Engineer, Director, Employee Supervisor, and also served on the Apparatus Committee (Rescue 50, Tower 50, 50-1, 50-4, A-50, C-50).

Mark was a Past President of the Kent County Fire Chief's Association and was the current President of the Kent County Volunteer Firefighters Association.

Mark is preceded in death by his father, George B. Langford Sr., brother, George B. Langford Jr., and a sister, Karla Langford.

He is survived by his mother, Lois "Dink" Langford; daughter, Katie Carter; numerous other family members and firehouse brethren.

Services for Mark, with full fireman's honors, will be on Saturday, January 9, 2020, at the Farmington Fire Company, 20920 S. Dupont Hwy, Farmington, at 12 PM.  A walk through visitation for family and friends will be from 10AM to 12PM.  Interment will take place at the Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.  We are adhering to the CDC and Delaware guidelines of occupancy limits, social distancing, and masks.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to either Station 47, 20920 S Dupont Hwy, Greenwood, DE 19950; or to Station 50, 20 Clark St, Harrington, DE 19952.
