Lewis K. Wroten

Lewis K. Wroten, Harrington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 12, 2022, he was 91.  Mr. Wroten was born in Harrington to the late, A. Kendall and Grace Simpson Wroten.

Mr. Wroten was a graduate of the Harrington High School, class of 1948.  He worked as a postal carrier for the town of Harrington for many years, retiring in 1985. 

One of the joys in his life was working with his mother in the family's greenhouse in Harrington, which was later sold and relocated to the Lake Forest High School.  At one time, he owned and raised harness horses which were raced at several local tracks in the US and at tracks in Quebec, Canada.  Mr. Wroten also loved to work with ceramics, and owned and operated the Busy Bee Ceramics of Harrington.  Spending time with family at their place on the Indian River Bay in Long Neck was also a favorite pastime.  After his retirement, Mr. Wroten liked to spend winters in Florida with his wife where he enjoyed growing flowers and taking care of his fruit trees.  It also gave him the opportunity to take his kids and grandkids to Disney when they came to visit.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Bonniwell Wroten.

He is survived by his sons, Steven Wroten, Randy (Robin) Wroten; sister, Doris Bostick; grandchildren, Scott (Brooke) Wroten, Brittany (Corey) Smith, Laurie Wroten, Taylor Wroten; great grandson, Wesley Wroten.

Services for Mr. Wroten will be Friday, February 18, 2022, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy, Harrington, at 12 noon.  A visitation for family and friends will start at 11AM.  Interment will take place at the Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
