Larry Edward Tibbitt, age 65, of Harrington, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2022, at the Delaware Hospice Center, after a long illness. Larry was a spiritual soul and loved the Lord with all of his heart. He was a 1976 graduate of Lake Forest High School. He was a concrete finisher/foreman for James B. Adams Contracting most of his adult life. He was a hard worker with an impeccable work ethic and took great pride in his work. He was always very sports oriented, even as a child, and always had a competitive nature about him. He excelled in all sports, especially baseball and wrestling. He was a worthy, but fair, opponent and always gave 100%, both on the field and on the mat. He was and will forever be an avid San Francisco 49ers fan.
Larry loved to go fishing on the Chesapeake with his father and grandfather, watch harness racing with his brothers, attend family vacations each summer at Ocean City, MD, and go on the many camping and canoeing trips he did as a member of the Boy Scouts of America. Family was everything to Larry but, above all else, his pride and joy were his daughters and grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Howard Tibbitt. He is survived by his mother, Barbara George; his two daughters, Heather Taylor (Lee) and Jessica Parks (Carlton); his grandchildren, Kade Taylor, Peyton Taylor, Emery Taylor, Mason Parks, Oliver Parks and Sawyer Parks; his siblings, Peggy Butler (Bob), Ronnie Tibbitt, Deborah Stewart (Terry), and Kenneth Tibbitt, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 15522 S. DuPont Hwy, Harrington. Visitation will occur one hour prior to the service.
