Larry J. Davis, Harrington, formerly of Illinois, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at the Delaware Veterans Home of Milford, he was 72. Mr. Davis was born in Olney, IL to the late, Carl Eugene and Ruby Dean Davis.
Mr. Davis served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1963 to 1966. He served mostly in Verdon France in the Communication field.
Mr. Davis worked as a plant operator in the refinery field for Texaco for over 35 years in Illinois. He was active in many civic organizations while living in Illinois, and was a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose, and the Lions Club.
Mr. Davis enjoyed bowling and bowled quite a bit on different leagues. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He was known in Metropolis for playing Superman and was a local celebrity for doing so. He was also an accomplished artist who dabbled into a lot of areas. He owned his own sign shop out of his home and enjoyed making signs and pin striping. He was so talented that people came from all over for his signs and pin striping. He loved his family dearly and was a loving and devoted husband and father. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Rick Davis; 2 grandchildren, John and Aubrey Davis; and a great grandchild, Aryanna.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cindy Davis; sons and daughters in law, Jason T. and Cindy Davis, Chad E. Davis and Kelly Wilds, Scott A. and Cyndi Davis; brothers, Gary Davis, Bob Davis; sister, Brenda Wells; grandchildren, Austin, Aaron, Adriana, Ashley, Ryne, Kyla, Justina, Sarah, McKenzie, Shelby, Garrett; 4 great grandchildren, Saniya, Breelynn, Caiden, Carter.
Celebration of Life Service will take place at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy, Harrington, DE 19952, on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at 1PM with a visitation for family and friends starting at 11AM. Interment will follow the service at the Camden Odd Fellows Cemetery.
