Kenneth Clendaniel Sr. Obituary

Kenneth W. Clendaniel, Sr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Kent General Hospital  surrounded in love by his wife, son and daughter.

Kenneth was born in Dover May 1, 1951 to the late Harry and Ruby Clendaniel.  He attended John Bassett Moore High School in Smyrna graduating in 1969.

He married his wife, Margie, on November 7, 1970 and they celebrated their 50th anniversary this past November with a party given by their children and grandchildren.

He served his country in the Delaware National Guards for 6 years.

He was a self employed mason contractor and built many foundations for new construction and especially liked building fireplaces.  In 1979 he purchased molds for lawn ornaments and started East Coast Lawn Ornaments in Cheswold.  The shop was located next to his home and his wife, son and other family members worked with him making and painting the lawn ornaments.  He taught Masonry for many years at the Adult Education at the VoTech in Woodside and also taught Masonry to the high school Vo Tech students.  In 1987 he changed his career and studied to be a Real Estate agent working for Harrington ERA and in 1996 moving to Remax Horizons.  His specialty was working with new construction, builders and selling homes in new developments.  His last settlement was in September 2020 at which time he was forced to stop working due to illness.  He has also owned many rental properties and liked to buy houses that needed remodeling and then sell them or keep as a rental.  If it was broke, he could always find a way to fix it.

He and his wife enjoyed motorcycling and traveled as far West as South Dakota, as far South as Mississippi, and as far North as Maine.  He was the Delmarva Rep for the Retreads for 16 years and was also a member of the United Tour Riders.  He also enjoyed camping, fishing and cruising.  His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he enjoyed spending time with them.  He was at his happiest whenever they came to visit.

He is survived by his wife, Margie; their son, Kenneth W. Clendaniel JR (Melissa); and daughter, Crystal Hickman (Fred).  6 grandchildren; Kenneth Clendaniel III, Carmen Clendaniel, Cory Clendaniel, Cameron Clendaniel, Jordan Hickman and Emily Hickman.  He is also survived by 3 brothers; Don Clendaniel, (Sheila) Dover; Mark Clendaniel, (Brenda) Ohio; Tim Clendaniel along with many nieces and nephews.

Services for Mr. Clendaniel will be Friday, April 23, 2021, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy, Harrington, at 1PM.  A visitation for family and friends will start at 11AM.  Interment will take place at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover, immediately after the funeral.  We are adhering to the CDC and Delaware guidelines of occupancy limits, social distancing, and masks.
