Jason Randall Wood, of Springfield, VA, passed away on April 29, 2022, at home with his family present. Jason was born to William J. and Sandra V. Wood.
Jason graduated from George C. Marchall High School in 1988 playing baseball and basketball. Three years in a row the baseball team played in the State Championship game. After high school, he attended Old Dominion University and Northern Virginia Community College where he obtained a degree in Information Technology. He worked for Spas East, two cable companies, and for National Micro Rentals where he was a computer/audio technician.
While at ODU, he was a drummer in a 4 person rock band. Three of the members continued to play for over 2 decades. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and the St. Louis Cardinals. He had season Redskin tickets and never missed a game for over 2 decades even though the last decade was hard to watch.
Jason also loved to fish and crab. He would fish in creeks, rives, ponds, lakes, and the Chesapeake Bay and crab in the tributaries of the Chesapeake. The stories of those 10-11 inch crabs or a 40 pound fish after a few beers could be quite interesting.
Thanks go out to his caregivers from Legacy Hospice, Shannon, Ruth, Mariana, Dr. McCue, and Ciara. Special thanks to Ciara for the persistence in dealing with Jason and the CVS Pharmacy to get the medicines he needed.
Jason is preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilford William and Wilma Catherine Wood and Albert and Cleora Killen Vincent.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, James D. "J.D." Wood; cousins, Rick Vincent, Donna Gunkel, Doug, Wesley and Danny Wood, Teresa Harrison, Charlie Kardoush, and Bonnie Buzzard.
A Graveside Service for Jason will take place on Friday, May 6, 2022, at the Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington, at 1 PM.
