Frank Martire, 71, of Greenwood, passed away Friday, February 18, 2022, at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital. He was the son of the late Enrico and Euphemia Martire.
Frank grew up in New York, served in the US Army Reserves, and worked at the New York Telephone Company. At one time, Frank used his mechanically inclined mind in his appliance repair business. He was a former member of the Apshawa Fire Company in West Milford, NJ where he held several offices during his time there. Upon moving to Delaware, Frank joined the Houston Volunteer Fire Company where he was currently serving as treasurer. He was a member and usher of St. John’s Catholic Church in Milford. Frank and his wife, Carole, enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels.
Frank was an outgoing person, who easily made friends wherever he was. He and Carole, bred and showed Irish Setters prior to him becoming a show judge. Frank enjoyed cruises to Florida, traveling with their timeshare, and golf occasionally. He was a jack of all trades, helped build his house in West Milford, NJ, and would do anything for you. Frank will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carole Martire; brother, Nick Martire; sister, Ann Marie Russell and extended family.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022 at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy, Harrington, DE, at 2 PM. A visitation will be held from Noon – 2 PM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Houston Volunteer Fire Company or Meals on Wheels, in honor of Frank.
