Frances Bennett

Frances R. Bennett, 105, passed away at the Delaware Hospice Center on Saturday, October 14, 2023, after a short illness.

Frances was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and the Frederica Senior Center. She was born in Milford to the late Frank and Margaret Rothermel. She went to Felton High School and worked as an inspector at DuPont before her retirement after 28 years. She and her husband of over 54 years, Donald Bennett, enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, horseback riding, square dancing, and spending time with their many friends and family members. After their retirement, they were part-year residents of Citrus Park in Bonita Springs, FL, where Frances proudly sponsored the Red Blush softball team.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald Bennett; her daughter Eleanor Huey; her son Frank Alvin Huey; her sisters Sarah Effinger, Ruth Bennett, and Helen Sharp; and her brothers Herbert, John, Frank, and Martin Rothermel.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Lee Huey; son, Gene and his wife Hope Huey; son, Stan Huey; sister, Marion Keily; brothers, Harold and Marvin Rothermel (Maggie); seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Monday, October 23, at Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home in Harrington, DE at 1 PM. Visitation is from 11:30 am – 1 pm. Internment will follow immediately after at Milford Community Cemetery, Milford.
